Counseling Division Mission Statement
The mission of the Counseling Division of Orange Coast College is to support, guide, and facilitate the personal growth and development of our students and, in this process, contribute to the academic success of all students in attendance regardless of the enrollment objectives. A guiding principle of the Counseling Division philosophy is the belief that the probability of any one student's success in realizing their personal potential and achieving their self-formulated goals is increased through the development of working relationships with the counseling faculty.
- The first core function of the Counseling Division is to provide individual counseling sessions to our students with a full time professional counseling faculty member so that students pursue their reasons/ objectives towards accomplishing their personal, academic, and career goals.
- The second core function, through the many class offerings of the Counseling Division curriculum, based on sound theoretical foundation, the presentation of course materials has as its primary objective instruction in life empowering skills in the areas of decision-making, interpersonal relationships, and personal health and awareness.
