Counseling In-Person Services Update:

COVID-19 UPDATEWe are online AND back on campus! The Transfer Center will be open for limited in-person services Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.. In accordance with current guidelines, we ask that all individuals wear a face covering in our office. 

Students visiting the Transfer Center please ensure that you have Cleared4 Access cleared prior to visiting OCC Campus. Students that are not in compliance with Cleared4 Vaccine Mandate with Testing Protocol may be asked to reschedule. For questions pertaining to Cleared4, please contact the Vaccine Mandate Help Desk at (714)432-5572. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to seeing you soon! 

Due to limited availability of transfer counselor appointments, students are strongly encouraged to use the drop-in feature for brief transfer-related questions. Hours are updated daily (Monday-Friday). If you have not yet met with a counselor and/or do not have a student education plan, you must schedule an appointment with general counseling.

Transfer Center Virtual Drop-in

Drop-in Counseling is not appropriate for any transcript reviews, Student Education Plans or personal counseling, as drop-in Counselors do not have access to your transcript or other student records.

In-Person Drop-in Counseling

In-person drop-in counseling is limited and hours subject to change based on availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Drop-in counseling is limited to ten minutes and is appropriate for general questions only. Students will be attended to on a first-come, first-served basis.

How do I speak with someone during virtual drop-in counseling?

Please remember drop-in counseling is for brief questions which do not require looking at individual transcripts and records.  *Please note hours and counselor availability subject to change. To speak with a transfer counselor during virtual drop-in hours, please follow the steps below. 

Students must log-in from a computer (not a smartphone) and use Google Chrome or Firefox browsers as student may experience technical issues. 

  1. Click the "Transfer Center Virtual Drop-in" tab during active virtual hours indicated above. You will need to agree to the Informed Consent Statement before using the Online Counseling Services at Orange Coast College.
  2. After you agree to the Informed Consent Statement, click the login button to access ConexEd via your MyCoast credentials (COAST username and password).

How do I book an appointment?

To schedule an appointment, start here . You will be redirected to the OCC Transfer Center's Cranium Cafe webpage. An Informed Consent Statement will appear and students will need to select "Agree" in order to move forward. Choose MyCoast SSO login button to enter 

The next screen will allow you to do the following steps, please proceed in this order: 

  1. Filter by Moderator – select which counselor you would like to meet with 
  2. Select Meeting Location – it is recommended you select “Video Meeting”. If you prefer to not do video, you can turn off video and use only audio even in the “Video Meeting” option, so please select this option
  3. Select Reason for Meeting – select “Transfer Counseling” 
  4. Select Meeting Date – select which day you would like to view available appointments. You may view availability for the following week by going back to the top of the screen and click “Next Week” 

Once you have made your selections and see what’s available, you may book your appointment by clicking on the time that works best and fill in the intake form that appears. Include your Student ID number, phone number, and reason for booking. You will then receive a confirmation email with the meeting link.

In the case that you cannot locate the meeting link for your appointment, log in to OCC's Cranium Cafe and follow the following steps:

  1. Locate the “Cranium Cafe” tab on the left and click on “My Cafe Appointments”
  2. You will find the meeting link along with your appointment’s date and time under the “My Cafeé Appointments” tab on the left.

Please be aware that students may experience technical issues and must log-in from a computer (not a smart phone) with a microphone and web camera.  Please use Google Chrome or Firefox browsers for these appointments and give yourself at least 10 minutes to prepare. Note that online appointments currently have limited availability.
