How to Fund Your Study Abroad Trip

This joint presentation with the OCC Study Abroad Advisor and OCC Financial Aid Counselor will clarify the mysteries of FAFSA & show you how to be strategic, to get the largest financial aid amount.  We'll also present several scholarship options. Gilman Scholarship Application Workshop 

The Benjamin Gilman International Scholarship offers up to $5,000 towards study abroad programs for Pell Grant eligible students. This scholarship also provides students with non-competitive eligibility (NCE)  for jobs with the U.S. Federal Government! OCC students consistently are awarded this scholarship and OCC was named a Top Producing School by Gilman in 2018. Read the Coast Report article. Don't let this one pass you by! 

The Gilman application also requires a follow on service project. View the videos for more information on the program, application process and tips on writing competitive essays.

The Gilman McCain Scholarship offers up to $5000.00 towards study abroad programs for dependents of active Military service members who are receiving federal financial aid. If you qualify for this, you may still apply for the Gilman scholarship also, but you can only receive one or the other. 

Gilman Partnership Scholarships - There are additional Gilman scholarships available through partnerships to France, New Zealand, Wales, & Portugal!
