The OCC Symphony and the OCC Chamber Singers, joined by members of the Long Beach Chorale, join forces to present their first full-scale live concert since the COVID shutdown. The program includes three works by classical masters: Mozart’s Overture to “Idomeneo,” Beethoven’s sparkling Symphony No. 1, and Franz Joseph Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis (“Lord Nelson” Mass), featuring OCC's top choral ensemble and four world-class soloists.

Dr. Mathew Ward, the new maestro of the OCC Symphony, will conduct the Mozart and Beethoven; after intermission, Choral Director Eliza Rubenstein will take the baton for the Haydn, which OCC’s Chamber Singers will also perform under her direction on June 27 at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

“The Lord Nelson Mass is one of my favorite works in the entire classical repertoire, and I cannot think of a better piece to welcome us all back to live performance,” says Rubenstein. “Haydn wrote it as a message of joy and hope in a time of great stress and anguish, and I think we can all relate to that!”

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased at https://occtickets.universitytickets.com/
