For fours years Justin Kimball photographed in abandoned homes, hotels, and building in the Northeastern United States. Justin sought within the abandoned spaces the evidence of an individual's life. Photgraphing "the smallest object (a note, a box of har pins, a stain on a pillow)," Kimball re-imagines their existence and relationship to the absent owners.

The resulting photographs are his preception of what happened in those spaces: Who lived there? What was hidden and what was seen? Justin's 60 color photographs from this body of work are explorations of the minutiae of everyday life - a contemplation of our brief and humble legacies before they are cleaned up and cast to the wind. Showing conurrently is the work of Cierra Lopez and Melissa Avilez.

The exhibition will run March 13th-April 19th at the Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion at OCC. The closing reception, lecture, and book signing will take place on Saturday, April 19th. Lecture 1-3pm, book signing/reception 3-5pm. As always, free and open to the public.

In addition, we are featuring the work of Melissa Avilez and Cierra Lopez, which will run concurrently with the "Pieces of String" exhibition. Both Melissa and Cierra are OCC Photo Alumni, both will be present at the reception on April 19th.
