Certification Requirements
According to Orange Coast College Academic Senate, certification is required to teach in online formats at Orange Coast College. Our certification process is based on the training and guidelines from the California Virtual College cvc.edu.
STLO
Our training course, Strategies for Teaching and Learning Online (STLO), is not a course about Canvas, but is an online workshop presenting the pedagogies of online learning and teaching using Canvas as the online platform.
Equivalencies are determined by the Online Faculty Coordinator.
- Online Asynchronous requires the Strategies for Teaching and Learning Online or its equivalent
- Hybrid Asynchronous/Synchronous online requires the Strategies for Teaching and Learning Online or its equivalent
- Hybrid Synchronous/On-site requires the Emergency Remote Teaching or its equivalent
- Live Online Synchronous requires the Emergency Remote Teaching or its equivalent
- Onsite has no certification requirement
